VL-SRSAM Solid Propellant

The VL-SRSAM (Vertical Launch Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile) is an indigenous, canister-based, quick-reaction weapon system developed by India's DRDO. Designed for the Navy, it uses a solid-propellant motor to neutralize high-speed aerial targets, including sea-skimmers, at ranges up to 80 km, with thrust vector control providing high agility.

Chemical Formula & Composition:

As a complex solid-propellant missile, VL-SRSAM does not have a single chemical formula. It uses a solid-propellant rocket motor and incorporates a high-explosive (HE) warhead. Typical compositions include an oxidizer such as Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), metal fuel like Aluminum powder (Al), and polymer binders such as HTPB for structural integrity and controlled combustion, though exact formulas are proprietary.
